What is ALIEN Roleplaying Game?
ALIEN roleplaying turns science-fiction horror into a game of pressure, limited information and fragile plans. The same frightened crew member can become more effective and less reliable as tension rises. That is why a tray for this game should distinguish Base dice from Stress dice instead of presenting one anonymous pile. This page is a pool helper, not a simulator for every character condition or cinematic agenda.
How to use the presets
Sixes in the base/stress pool are counted as successes. A one on a Stress die is highlighted because it can trigger a Panic roll. That warning does not itself determine the action outcome: the Panic result and the applicable edition's rules still matter. A Base-only preset genuinely has zero Stress dice; the count input permits zero without quietly replacing it with one.
Two sixes and a Stress one are reported as two successes plus a Panic warning, not an unconditional successful action.
Practical table tips
- Adjust Stress before the roll, and label the two groups clearly. Mixing up a Base one and a Stress one changes the information sent to the table.
- Resolve Panic before announcing that the task succeeded. A pool with sixes and a Stress one needs more attention than a plain success count.
- Keep a pushed roll distinct from a new unrelated skill check. This version does not remember which dice are legally eligible for a push.
ALIEN Roleplaying Game dice FAQ
Does a one on any die cause Panic?
The warning specifically counts ones in the second, Stress group. Base ones are not treated as Stress ones.
Can I roll with no Stress?
Yes. Set Stress dice to zero or use Base only. The tool keeps the group label but rolls no hidden extra die.
Can I add +2 to improve my pool?
For a pool adjustment, change the number of dice. Arithmetic modifiers are not applied to the displayed success count.
Pushing, Panic effects, talents, gear deterioration and character state remain manual. Confirm details against the ALIEN edition your group uses.
