What is BattleTech?

BattleTech is a science-fiction combat game built around armored machines, positioning and the consequences of damage. A pair of six-sided dice appears in several procedures, but the same total does not always answer the same question. An attack, a Piloting Skill Roll and a hit-location lookup use different context. This tray makes repeated 2d6 rolls easy to name and read.

How to use the presets

The basic presets add two d6. Supply any arithmetic adjustment only when the rule modifies the rolled total; many tabletop modifiers instead affect the target number. For table lookups, use the correct table for the facing, attack type and unit. The roller cannot infer those details from a result of eight. Keep its output attached to the declared procedure.

AT THE TABLE / A QUICK EXAMPLE

2 and 6 total eight. Keep that eight labeled "location" if it belongs to a table, rather than comparing it with a weapon's attack target.

BattleTech dice FAQ

Does it look up hit locations?

No. It provides the 2d6 total for the correct table you select.

Can I apply a target-number modifier?

Calculate the target separately when that is what the rule requires. The modifier panel changes the rolled number itself.

Does it support Alpha Strike?

It can supply dice, but these descriptions are for basic Classic-style rolls rather than automated Alpha Strike resolution.

What stays manual

Facing, heat, weapon rules, cluster results, hit locations and unit records are not evaluated automatically.
