4d12 · 4 separate 12-sided dice
Four D12s are useful when a rule asks for four broad damage dice or another 4d12 total. Showing the individual terms makes a large result easier to check and gives special per-die instructions a place to operate.
The example adds 12,4,9, and 6 to produce 31. The actual maximum of four D12s is 48, reached when all four show 12. Read the permitted range rather than rounding it into an unfamiliar die size.
Raw sum12 + 4 + 9 + 6 = 31
| Total | Ordered sets | Chance, rounded |

| 4 | 1 | 0.004822530864% |
| 26 | 1,156 | 5.57% |
| 48 | 1 | 0.004822530864% |
Standard independent-dice model: 20,736 ordered outcomes. Percentages are rounded.
A high-looking total has no automatic game effect by itself. Use the requested adjustments and the game rule that applies the result. The die tray supplies numbers; the expression defines which numbers to combine.
