Online Dice4d6 · 4 separate 6-sided dice
Four D6s are familiar from character-generation procedures, but the phrase after the dice expression matters. A plain 4d6 roll adds everything. A drop-lowest rule asks you to inspect the four faces before keeping only three.
In this example the four cubes show 6, 5, 3, and 1. Their raw total is 15. If your procedure says to drop the lowest, remove the 1 and keep 6+5+3 = 14. These are two valid calculations for two different instructions.
Raw sum6 + 5 + 3 + 1 = 15
| Total | Ordered sets | Chance, rounded |
|---|---|---|
| 4 | 1 | 0.08% |
| 14 | 146 | 11.27% |
| 24 | 1 | 0.08% |
Standard independent-dice model: 1,296 ordered outcomes. Percentages are rounded.
The D&D game presets include a drop-lowest setup. The ordinary tray here is useful for seeing all four dice and their raw sum. Check your edition or house rule before treating one character-generation method as universal.
