Online Dice

4d20 · 4 separate 20-sided dice
Four twenty-entry tables can choose a location, a creature or character, a motivation, and a complication. This is a worldbuilding use for a familiar die, rather than four attacks that need to be added together.
Write twenty entries in each list. The example selects location three, visitor seventeen, motivation eight, and complication twelve. Start with what the visitor wants, then use the other details to decide why the encounter is awkward.
